Better together.

Let’s make it better, together.

I am a longtime resident of Leon County and am excited about the possibility of giving back to my community by serving as your Leon County School Board District 2 Representative. As a graduate of the Leon County School System, and now a parent of two children attending school in the district, I understand the importance of providing resources for the next generation to achieve their full potential.

Over the past five years, my wife and I have been actively involved in our children’s education, serving on the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), School Advisory Council (SAC), and District Advisory Council (DAC). While we have had the pleasure of working alongside fantastic parents, teachers, staff, and administrators, we have also encountered challenges such as navigating the pandemic as full-time working parents, becoming part-time homeschool teachers, dealing with bullying, and struggling to find adequate resources to help our kids master difficult subjects.

I know that these challenges are not unique to our family, and I am eager to use my experiences to work toward solutions that benefit all parents, students, and teachers in our district.

Resources & Technology

The landscape of education has undergone a significant transformation over the past 25 years. However, the essence of education remains the same - to impart knowledge and skills to students that can shape their future. To make this happen, it is imperative that parents are actively involved in their child's education, teachers receive adequate support, and students are equipped with the right resources.

One way to provide students with the necessary resources is to tap into the readily available resources within the school system. By utilizing these resources, students can access extra help or support that they may require to stay on track with their learning. With the rapid advancements in technology, subjects like math have also undergone a significant change. Therefore, these resources could prove instrumental in assisting parents in helping their children understand complex concepts and strategies that are taught in the classroom. Ultimately, by focusing on these fundamental aspects of education, we can provide students with an enriching and meaningful learning experience.

Parental Rights

Ensuring parental rights remain intact in the school system is crucial. To achieve this, we need to increase transparency and communication between schools and parents on all matters related to their children. Unfortunately, there seems to be a disconnect between parents and the school system, which leaves many feeling unheard, unseen, and marginalized. It is vital for parents to be informed of and given the opportunity to address district-level policy development that directly affects their parental rights. The infrastructure is in place to build and strengthen the relationship between the school system and parents, but it requires recognition and consideration. Let's work together to establish a strong partnership between parents and schools, where parents' voices are heard and their rights are protected.

Disctrict Policies

District policies and procedures regarding student behavior expectations should be strictly enforced at the school level. It is important that teachers and administrators receive adequate support to manage disruptive behavior in the classroom. The academic proficiencies of students are currently at unacceptable levels, and losing valuable classroom teaching time due to behavioral issues is detrimental to the academic progression of other students. Parents must be informed in cases where students fail to meet these expectations.

Our teachers deserve better, parents deserve better, your kids deserve better, I know mine do. Let’s make it Better Together.
